My first conviction as CDDP

On Sunday morning I went to the courts for a shoot around and then went into work for a bit. Then I met up with Malay for lunch, picking G up and having pies at the Bra. I wanted to introduce them to pies with potato and gravy, hehe.

We sat and talked for a while, watching everyone approach the shopping centre doors only to find it was closed. Shuing had said earlier he'd meet up with us after having lunch, so I suggested we rent a movie and go to his house to watch it. We met with Shuing at the Wick, and he was a bit annoyed because I told him to meet us at the video store but on the way there we stopped for ice cream and then decided to walk towards our high school.

Anyway, he drove to where we were and we started walking to the school when it started pouring rain, so he dorve us back to my car and we went to the video store.

It was a bit hard looking for a move that suited Shuing's taste, since he wasn't into action/gore at all. I found this movie called Idiocracy or something, and thought it looked good so we all settled on that. Malay was having a ball at the ex-rentals section, trying to gather five movies so he could get the $20 deal. He asked us to pick a movie each, and I picked The Grizzly Man.

When he went to pay for them, the hot blonde chick looked at The Grizzly Man and made a flirty comment about how she was sad that it was being bought. For a few moments thereafter I got jealous because I felt that it was my movie so I should've gotten the 'credit' for it, but then realised she probably found Malay attractive and would made the comment about any other movie, and then I felt happy for him.

We bought some snacks at an Asian grocery store nearby and ended up going to G's house to watch Idiocracy. It started out ok, but pretty soon it was obvious it was like a C-grade movie. It had its laughs, but ultimately Shuing said it was the worst movie he'd ever seen. I agree it was bad, but I still say Deathproof was the worst movie ever.

We tried to watch a bit of The Man, but it skipped due to scratches on the disc so we called it a night.

Yesterday morning I went to the courts and had a lot of fun. I didn't make myself do any drills in particular, but just had fun trying to jump as high as I could with the ball and basically trying to dunk. I think I can get pretty high, but nowhere near the ability to dunk.

I actually had a few good laughs and fun moments to myself as I just did whatever felt good on the court. It was times like this that I really appreciated the peace and quiet.

After that I went to the gym, then bought a sushi and went home. I caught the bus everywhere because dad had come home and I gave the car back. It was alright, but on my way out to work I had forgotten my pass so I had to go back home which was a waste of time.

When I did finally get into work, I saw Levac there, preparing for her hearing. We had a bit of a chat, and I think we were both a bit surprised at how one another looked in casual gear.

I worked for a couple of hours and then went to the Pepper place for lunch, then had a bit of a walk around looking for that long sleeve jersey I saw a guy at my gym wearing, which I thought was a good idea if I needed to go to the gym when it rained.

I went back to the office and worked until about 7pm preparing for my hearing. I found a lot of problems in it, but just told myself to wing it.

Had dinner with the whole family, it was good to be a whole again.

Today I didn't have a very good start to the day. I had to bring the kitty litter up from the car, but the packaging broke and it started spilling everywhere. Grrr. Then I had to bring the bag of rice up which was bloody heavy and I had already gotten dressed.

I drove to court and got there pretty early, so went to the shopping centre to use the bathroom, then walked back to my car. I saw Zena on my way to the car, had a brief chat before I had to go get my suitcase from the car. We met again outside court and talked, before one of the witnesses approached me and I started talking to him.

I eventually went into court and after a chat with my informant, we started almost straight away, unlike last time.

I felt pretty nervous but seemed like I was on auto-pilot. Half of me couldn't believe I was into my second hearing, but that half was too busy to do anything.

I got annoyed when the defence guy xx my informant, because everything he asked was irrelevant, and he went on and on about it. I had two other witnesses to get through and here he was wasting time.

At morning tea I went to look for Zena but couldn't find her, and later found out her matter had folded so I guess she went back to the office.

We continued after morning tea until lunch. I didn't go out to lunch, opting instead to stay in the building and prepare my closing and xx in case the defendant gave evidence.

Even after lunch, the defence was still xx my informant, and I got so restless I started sighing loudly, lol. We got through the next two witnesses fairly quickly, and I don't think we even needed them.

The defendant didn't end up giving evidence, and during closing I made an extra effort to put the pieces together and go really hard at it. I needed this. I knew I needed a win.

The judge sat on the bench for 45 minutes writing out his decision, so we all sat there in silence.

Please tell me you're not dumb enough to fall for this guy's smoke and mirrors.

Man, if I win...

Then the judge finally read out his reasons. The sweetest words I'd heard for a long time were "inescapable that she offended..."

YES!!!

He believed me!! I'd won!!!

I couldn't help but let out a little smile as I sat there listening to the rest of the judgment. I didn't really push on sentence because I figured I'd done enough.

I left the court rather quickly, got my car and drove off. I had my Eminem music on pretty loud because I was so happy. I stopped at Bankstown to get some Vietnamese rolls for whoever might be left in the office.

By the time I got back, I caught Wendy just as she was leaving. She asked how it went and when I told her, she was pretty ecstatic and we had a bit of a talk about the defence lawyer.

I left soon after she did, and then drove off to get some pizza for the family as I was so happy. These guys stopped next to me at the lights and said Eminem was awesome, lol.
