Eastershow
On Friday I went out to Central to meet Matt and Aaron for the Eastershow. When I got there I saw I received a message from Aaron asking us where we were. I called him and said I had just arrived, and he said he was on the platform. I called Matt and he was upstairs but ended up coming down to where I was where we bought our tickets together.
At first we were standing in the packed stadium, but later on I got fed up with all the empty seats upstairs, so Matt and I went to check it out. We tried to go up before but the security guard said it was VIP only, but I caught a glance of other people going up without being stopped, hence my second attempt. Matt and I found a nice standing spot upstairs so we messaged Aaron and Kristy to come up. We ended up finding some seats after some people left, so it worked out well.
After that we went up to the platform where we saw Aaron and his girlfriend Kristy. I knew she would be coming, but wasn't sure if he was bringing anyone else like he suggested. I was kinda relieved he didn't. The train ride conversation went alright, it was a lot faster than I expected.
Once we got there, I felt kinda excited, especially as I saw the entrance and going through the entrance seeing all the stalls. It was a bit full on at first, not knowing what to do or where to go. Kristy wanted to see some animals so we started there. Apparently she really wanted to see goats, so after the chickens we went to see some goats and pigs. I felt kinda sorry for all the animals there.
After that we went to the fresh food dome, where we ate some freebies, then played some games. I played that game where you put the ball in the clown's mouth, and didn't win anything. NOTHING! Not even a consolation prize! Fucking hell.
Then Aaron and Kristy had a go at archery, then I had a go at basketball. I was really hopeful I'd get at least one shot in, but missed all four. After that we checked out the showbags, and although at first I really wanted to get some, on closer inspection I saw that nothing was really that appealing. Especially when everything is like $22-$45.
We spent a bit of time looking for the advertised waffle dog, and had to ask the information booth for it, which turned out to be very close. Matt and I got one. Aaron got a burger meal, and Kristy got something else. But that wasn't enough for Matt and I, so we got a 'manwich', which didn't turn out to be that great. We ate it while watching a show, which Kristy wanted to watch.

The show was ok, I guess the fireworks was the best part. After that we walked around a bit more before leaving. I had put aside $200 to spend here, but probably only spent about $80 including the train and entry ticket. I was surprised I didn't leave with a showbag. I must admit, I was a little disappointed. Everything seemed so commercialised now. It just didn't seem like the Eastershow I remembered.
Maybe I have grown out of it?
