Thursday comp: 1-0
I was in court today. Remeber that SLA chick Rod fancied at their christmas party last year, and he made me and another guy be a wing man for him and we approached her as she was talking to some other guy? Well I saw her today.
At first I didn't know it was her. I just saw some blonde go into the SLA room and wondered who it was. I was walking towards her and didn't realise who it was, so I turned around and sat down, but as I did, she walked across me and turned her head and smiled.
I'm sure it was just a friendly gesture, and I'm glad that she doesn't think I'm a jerk for what happened that time. I thought it was pretty rude for us to have interrupted her. Anyway, how does a girl go from being a redhead to being a blonde?
My mention was a bit AWOL today. It was a matter I didn't know about, and Nom gave me shitty instructions. Anyway, you won't believe what I saw today. These two guys were taking a little bit longer than usual for their mention, as they were sorting things out with the judge, and then a third guy - who must've been in a hurry - went up between them and said something like "do you guys know what you're doing?"
Then the bald Persian guy who was one of the two already standing up, shouldered him! He actually put his shoulder down and physically forced this third guy to back off! Wow, unbelievable. An assault by a lawyer, in court, in front of students. Wow.
Here's the distinction- the second guy who was standing up, is a guy I've seen once before in court. I remember him because he's tall, quite good looking, but his most distinctive feature is his soft, feminine voice. He just looked at the third guy and laughed it off.
See? Perfect example of being a blunt brutal male versus a gentleman.
I finished at court and went to the jails to see a client. I got there at 11:00, and they didn't bring him out by 11:30, which is when they close for a break, so I drove back to the office and ended up having lunch with Rod. Also found out it was George's birthday today and Nom planned on having a dinner tonight.
After lunch, I headed back to the jails, where I just read like 44 telephone calls to the client. My voice was hurting. He didn't seem grateful, which I really hate. Like, his old lawyer did nothing and never saw him, and now this is the second time I've seen him and he keeps whinging about wanting bael.
I went to buy a tie for George, and the assistant was very insisting on me also buying a pair of socks, so I did, but kept it for myself. I returned to the office and gave George the tie. Didn't really do much work, as Rod was showing George and I some youtube clips while Nom was on the phone arguing with the other side. The police think she's in the drug business with our clients, lol.
She'd never get that close. Although, I sometimes reckon she faces more pressure than she shows. By pressure, I mean pressure from these real big time criminals.
I didn't end up going to the dinner, as I had bball and didn't think having a full on meal before the game was a good idea. Yoj didn't go either because apparently she's not supposed to eat much after her surgery. Turned out her surgery was just to make her not feel hungry. I thought it'd suck the fat out of her. Geez, I wouldn't pay $5,000 to have surgery to make me feel not hungry. Isn't self control just a much cheaper way?
Our team had a good turn out tonight. We had seven, and only Dunnycan and Nik didn't show up. We played a new team, and beat them 62-47. We were only leading by about 10 at halftime, and then we went on a pretty big run to pull away.
I scored four points, both baskets on fastbreaks. If we weren't winning, Geoff would've gotten onto my nerves a bit. He'd take the ball up, do an And1 move, drive, and chuck up a wild shot. Crazy 18 year olds.
I also found out Roberto, who I went to uni with, is playing in my division now. Hmmm...another storyline for the media. I pictured Bush and Carry coming to the game to watch us when we play against eachother.
I went to the casino, and won $200. I jumped on the semi-computer roulette, did most of my winnings there using the agrressive method, hopped off, won $75 at a table, then lost $25 at another table, and cashed in. Casinos hate my type- the hit and run. They expect that when you win, you bet again and lose it all.
And why do they show baseball more often than NBA? It's the plaaaaaaaayoffs!!!
Wednesday
Was at court in the city today. I swear, Wednesdays are Cth drug matters, so it's like a gathering party for big time lawyers. I saw CJ and the Crown there. I did something embarassing. I mentioned one matter and wanted to do another, so I began with "your Honour-" and got cut off by him as he wanted to do the person on screen. He didn't do it deliberately, it was just one of those things where two people speak at the same time.
I retreated to the back. Argh!!!
I attended the YL meeting tonight. I was very late, so didn't know what was going on really. When I sat down, it was near Wruth and we said hi to eachother. I admire her personality. She just doesn't give a fuck about anything.
Went to the casino and won $50. I was actually up $150 but then lost $100. I was very tempted to bet another $100, but told myself I'd really feel shitty if I went from +$150 to -$150. I used a really agrressive method where I practically bet on every number in the second dozen.
I did it using the casino money, lost twice, and won once. Just one win gives you a pretty big profit. The bad thing is this: apart from the obvious huge loss if the ball lands in the other two dozens, this strategy attracts attention, because you've piled a tonne of chips all in one area.
You do not want to draw attention to yourself in a casino. Ideally you just want to quietly walk in, win, and queitly walk out. No shennenigans, no flash, no "I'm a high roller" type of shit. You want to be stealth.
The pit boss noticed me, which I really didn't like.
