The end of gambling?
Mmm...sitting here after eating breakfast and having done five sets of suicides with push ups.
On Friday I started at court in the city instructing a barista. God he was in a shitty mood. He was complaining about how the matter (Nom's matter) hadn't been prepared properly and everything, and then he finally said it. Despite having had to court for three times, he was only paid for one court date.
So it always comes down to money.
I didn't know much about the matter. Basically we spent half the day with the other side and the police talking. One of the male cops tried to chat me up, but I was careful cause I know they're just fishing for information. Like Nom said, they're so nice to her, but behand her back they reckon she's in the drug business with her clients, lol.
Nom arrived later and relieved me of my duties. I went to a conference with DH where the client didn't show up. I swear, I think one of the clerks there likes me. Everytime I'm there she always steals glances at me, and this time, she was walking towards me and saying to her colleage that she was going to lunch, and she was looking at me the whole time. Too bad she looks like a man though. I like her blonde colleague.
After picking up some files, I returned back to the office. Nom soon arrived and we just spend the rest of our day working.
I met up with Bob near Malay's place for poker. We drove to G's house only to have him call us later to say he had only just left the office. Because we were so hungry, we decided to go to this pie shop that was open 24 hours a day. As the lady was getting my hot dog, I saw a sign that said they had foot-long hot dogs. That was new to me, so I asked her about it, and when I walked out Bob asked me why I was chatting up the pie chick. Can a guy ever talk to a girl without being accused of chatting her up?
Anyway, we met up with G, Shuing and Scope at a restaurant where we had dinner. There was something odd about this place but I just couldn't put my finger on it. Later on, Shuing identified it, when he said "this type of place is the most likely to get robbed because of its location".
That's it! It was located in such a quiet and desserted area, with no real businesses around and surrounded by residential units. There wasn't much streetlightight outside, and when I saw two youths walk in with hoods pulled over their heads I could just picture it happening that night.
After dinner we went to G's house and played poker. I won the first game but lost in the first hand of the second. Throughout the night we were all feeling cold. I just thought his house was like that, but later on we realised it was because he left his window open, which was right next to us but behind some curtains.
Because we started so late, having waited for G and all, we finished quite late, but that didn't stop me from going to the ca-chino after Bob dropped me off at home. I lost $100.
Yesterday I went to the casino with the intention of watching the Celtics-Hawks Game 6. During halftime I went to play roulette and I lost a lot of money. I think I lost my whole months savings. Let's just say I could've used the money to buy a PS3 with GTAIV.
I know I've said it before, but I think it'll stop here. There's not much I can say, but I guess we'll just have to see what happens. Out of curiousity I had done some research on gambling addiction and I found this article which akins the addiction to drug abuse. From my experience, it's probably not far from the truth. Sometimes even though I didn't feel like gambling, I still did it. That rush you feel is the reason for doing it. It's not about the money.
The extent of the satisfaction of winning does not equate to the extent of disappointment of losing the equivalent amount. Ironically, losing seems to have this alluring appeal to it. It's almost as if I do it to lose, then continue on to see if I can come back. It's not fun if I go there, win, then leave. It's like I have to lose, I have to create a challenge for myself.
After losing and watching the game (btw, there were some really suspicious calls against Boston), I went to the cinemas to watch Semi-Pro. It was a good way to cheer me up and make me appreciate the more simpler things in life. I don't need gambling to entertain me. Watching a movie is a lot more enjoyable and causes less harm.
My favourite scene was where they were playing poker, and the guy says "did you just call me a jive turkey?" and Jackie Moon says "umm..no, he called you a cocksucker", and then they start shooting the gun which you just know is loaded and gonna go off at any moment, haha.
So, will this be the end of my gambling problem?
