Close shave
Last night, lost $100. This morning, won $75.
I bludged so much at work today. I spent all morning looking up roulette strategies. I found this article by some guy who seems to have it all in place. It's a 60 page article, and what I really like about it is that 1) he acknowledges that there are risks and that sometimes you just have to lose (unlike most scams which claim you can win 100% of the time) and 2) he makes you understand how the casino gets its edge, which is not only by odds, but by creating an environment where you make rash decisions and throw away your money with ease.
Nom arrived in the early afternoon, and as we were both typing away, the printer started printing a lot. I thought she was printing something, and then she asked if it was me. I said no, and I went to check.
The fucking roulette article I had printed was coming out again! I pressed cancel, and it spat out a few more pages before finally stopping. I quickly grabbed it and told her it was a case I found. I had actually found a case earlier today, I just didn't print it, so my story holds.
Man, can you believe the trouble I'd get in if Nom discovered that? I'd get into trouble not only for having a gambling problem, but more seriously (from her point of view) that I was using company resources for personal use.
At this point, I would like to mention another fact which proves that Yoj isn't as innocent as she looks. When Nom's not in the office, she is always using the office phone for personal calls. Funny how she doesn't do it when Nom's around.
Anyway, I went to the casino and won $25. I actually lost $200 and was using my third $100. I lost the first $100 because I was trying this strategy I read somewhere else, which relies on the law of uneven distribution. This appeals to me because it's semi-logical: in 37 spins, you will not get each number once. Some numbers are bound to repeat. Only problem was, I realised in the middle of it that I needed a bigger bankroll to actually make any use of this.
I got real lucky in making my comeback, using the columns and black strategy and winning on both three times- which meant a total of $225. The article I started reading also said that a win of 1/5 of your bankroll was considered good, and that's mainly why I walked off with $25 and didn't try anymore (when I'm up, I usually tell myself I'll walk when I lose the next round).
